Feysal Mohamed originally shared: Hani, the freed slave of Uthman, reported: Uthman would stop by a grave and he would weep until his beard was wet. It was said, “You remember Paradise and Hellfire but you do not weep, yet you weep because of this?” Uthman said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Verily, the grave is the first stage of the Hereafter, so whoever is saved from it, then whatever comes afterwards will be easier for him, but if he is not saved from it, then whatever comes afterwards will be harder for him.” And the Messenger of Allah said, “I have never seen any sight except that the grave is more frightening than it.”
